Caruso and Dion Continue to Represent Pride in GNAC Weekly Awards
WESTON, Mass. – Sophia Caruso (Haverhill, Mass.) and Josh Dion (Weston, Mass.) continue to represent Regis College swimming and diving in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards. Caruso earned both Swimmer of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors - her second time receiving each and her first time sweeping both categories - while Dion collected his third consecutive Diver of the Week award.
Caruso delivered an outstanding performance for the Pride in their meet against Norwich. She opened with a dominant victory in the 200-yard freestyle, posting a personal-best time of 2:03.27, the fifth-fastest mark in program history, finishing 15.6 seconds ahead of the runner-up. She followed that with another personal best and first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle at 57.20 seconds, which ranks 13th all-time at Regis. Caruso capped off her day by helping the 400-yard freestyle relay team secure another first-place finish.
On the diving side, Dion earned top honors in the five-dive event with a score of 117.35, then narrowly missed a sweep with a runner-up finish in the six-dive event, falling just 6.3 points short of first place.
Caruso, Dion, and the rest of the Pride will return to action on Friday, October 31, when they host Plymouth State at the Regis College pool. The meet is set to begin at 6 p.m.
