Women's Soccer Falls to Lasell in Crosstown Battle
NEWTON, MASS. – NEWTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's soccer team made the short trip across town this weekend for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup against Lasell University, where the host Lasers capitalized on a single goal to secure a 1-0 victory.
How It Happened
The Pride opened up the game hot having 5 shots in the first ten minutes. In the 18th Minute Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) would be called on to make back-to-back saves on attempts from the Lasers offense.
Just before half, Delaney Scanlon (Dracut, Mass.) would have an oppertunity but would shoot it just high to send the game into the break deadlocked at 0-0.
The lone tally came in the 56th minute when Brooke Bell converted off a feed from Camdyn LaMarre. Just five minutes later, the Pride pressed back with a flurry of three shots in quick succession, but each was denied by the Lasell defense. In the dying embers of the match, Leah Snyder (Hope, Maine) nearly found the equalizer, but her attempt sailed just over the bar, sealing the Lasers' victory.
