Women's Soccer Postseason Preview

FULL GNAC RELEASE

WESTON, Mass. – At the conclusion of the regular season on Tuesday night, the Regis College women's soccer team finished just outside the top four, securing fifth place with an overall record of 10-7-2 and a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) mark of 8-4-1.

With the fifth seed, the Pride will travel to Albertus Magnus to face the Falcons in the opening round of the GNAC Tournament. The matchup promises to be another exciting one, as both teams enter the postseason on impressive winning streaks - Albertus Magnus with three straight victories and Regis riding a dominant seven-game streak. The Falcons narrowly edged the Pride 1-0 in their earlier regular-season meeting.

The Pride are peaking at the perfect time, carrying their historic seven-game winning streak into the postseason, a stretch that has been highlighted by five shutouts. During this run, Sienna Santiago (Brewster, N.Y.) has powered the offense with seven goals and five assists, including a hat trick in the 10-0 win over Mitchell that began the streak. Julia Benvegnu (Watertown, Conn.) and Maeve Glavin (Norwood, Mass.) have each added four goals during this span, with Benvegnu also contributing two assists.

On the defensive end, Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) and Cassidy Van Cott (Santa Monica, Calif.) have anchored the back line, allowing just two goals while combining for 19 saves.

The Pride have also benefited from strong play across the roster, including senior captain Meadow Comeiro (Woburn, Mass.), who provides leadership and stability in the midfield, and standout first-year Sofia Torres (Cumberland, R.I.), who has been a consistent force on defense, starting a team-high 18 of 19 games in her debut season.

As the Pride prepare for their GNAC Quarterfinal matchup, the team carries confidence, momentum, and a unified mindset into postseason play. Marking their sixth consecutive appearance in the GNAC Tournament, Regis looks poised to make a run behind balanced scoring, disciplined defense, and veteran leadership - continuing their remarkable late-season surge.
