Ortiz's Strike in Final Minutes Earn Regis 2-2 Draw

Weston, Mass. – The Regis College men's soccer team returned to action on Wednesday night, September 17, battling the Curry College Colonels to a 2-2 draw at Regis Stadium.

For the Pride, Reynaldo Bautista (Miami, Fla.) and Sebastian Ortiz (Carolina, Puerto Rico) had a goal apiece in this non-conference bill, while Cade Bretton (Burlington, Vt.) added an assist.

Kaden Puglia led the Colonels' attack with a goal and an assist while Ray Weinstein rounded out the scoring. In net, Justin Ritz made seven saves.

How it Happened:

Regis opened up scoring today, wasting no time, just three minutes in, when Bretton found Bautista who snuck one Past Ritz to the bottom right corner.  The Colonels wouldn't stay quiet for long though, as Weinstein found his first of the year off an assist from Chris Kourtelidis in the eighth minute.

With five minutes to play in the first Curry would strike again when Puglia would slot one into the back of the net to give his squad the one-goal tilt. Right before half, the Pride would have a few corners in succession, but the Colonels' defense would keep them at bay to end the first frame in their favor, 2-1.

In the 72nd minute, Regis generated a promising scoring opportunity but couldn't convert, while Curry looked to protect their narrow lead. However, in the 83rd minute, the Pride rewrote the script as Ortiz found the back of the net with the equalizer. The 2-2 scoreline held through the final minutes, sealing a hard-fought draw at Regis Stadium.
