Regis Athletics Names Kiera Murray as Head Coach of Cross Country and Track & Field Programs

WESTON, Mass. Regis College has announced the hiring of Kiera Murray as the new Head Coach for its Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field programs. Murray brings extensive experience in coaching, sport psychology, and athlete development, as well as a strong competitive background as a collegiate and high school runner.

Murray joins Regis from the University of New England (UNE), where she served in multiple coaching roles, including Interim Head Coach for Cross Country and Women's Track & Field and most recently as Assistant Coach focused on distance events, as well as overseeing the men's unofficial outdoor track and field season. At UNE, she was responsible for athlete training, meet coordination, recruiting, and integrating mental performance strategies into team practices.

She also played a key role in launching UNE's first mental performance program and served as the university's first Mental Performance Coach. As a candidate for Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) certification, Murray has led workshops and consultations aimed at enhancing athletic performance through mental skills training.

Murray holds a Master of Science in Sport Psychology from Lock Haven University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of New England, where she was a decorated student-athlete. As captain of the cross country team, she earned All-Conference honors and contributed to four consecutive conference championship teams.

Her coaching experience spans collegiate, high school, and youth levels, including positions at Cheverus High School, Falmouth High School, and with Fleet Feet's community run programs. She also has experience in event management and has worked extensively in research and community service.

"After an extensive search, we are proud to announce Kiera Murray as our Head Men's & Women's Cross Country/Track Coach," said Pam Roecker, Dean of Athletics. "This position generated a lot of interest from qualified candidates. It was clear that the great potential of our programs is recognizable, and that we have the ability to continue to build upon our championship success due to our academic programs, our location and our on-campus track & field facility. In spite of the competitive field, it was obvious that Coach Murray was the right fit for our men's and women's student-athletes, as well as our athletic program."

"She is coming to Regis from a championship UNE Women's Track program, led by former Pride Head Coach Kourtney Bonsey. Kiera has served as an assistant coach for the highly competitive UNE program, including time as the interim head coach. In addition, Coach Murray holds a master's degree from Lock Haven University in Sports Psychology. She has experience as a high school, middle school, summer program and club coach. Coach Murray possesses a charismatic personality, and she is a relationship builder—which will allow her to connect with our current team members as well as our prospective student-athletes and their parents."

"Her passion for the sport, her advocacy of student-athletes, her commitment to holistic coaching, and her sports performance expertise all set her up to be successful in the next stage of her professional career. We are excited to see where she will take all six of our Pride men's and women's cross country, indoor and outdoor track programs."

"I am extremely excited and honored to join the Regis College Pride as the new head coach for women's and men's cross country and track & field," said Kiera Murray. "I want to thank Pam Roecker, the athletic administration, and everyone involved in the search committee for this incredible opportunity. I am humbled to be part of an institution that is whole-heartedly committed to creating successful students academically, athletically, and personally. I look forward to continuing to grow the cross country and track & field programs, and help athletes develop throughout their time at Regis College."

Murray will begin her new role Monday, August 4th.
