Women's Cross Country Finds Handful of Personal Bests at GNAC Championships
NORTHFIELD, Vt. — The Regis College women's cross country team posted numerous personal bests at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships on Sunday at Norwich University. The Pride placed seventh overall, finishing 49 points ahead of Dean College, while Emmanuel College claimed the team title with 55 points, followed closely by Colby-Sawyer with 59.
Jonnie Charest (Methuen, Mass.) led the Pride in the 6K with a season-best 27:29.50, followed by Lindsey Ferris(Fairfax, Vt.) in 30:45.00, who used an extra push to edge out her Colby-Sawyer competitor by three seconds. Olivia Mmamelu (Waltham, Mass.) finished next at 32:12.10, closely followed by Emma Paley, who set a personal best of 32:55.90, and Zoe Kirk (Dover, N.H.) at 36:28.60.
Rounding out the team, Cecelia Lazaro, Jenna Lynch (Mattapoisett, Mass.), and Ayuska Tamang all achieved personal bests. Lazaro improved by five minutes with a 36:41.10 finish, Lynch shaved 90 seconds off her previous best at 38:02.60, and Tamang also posted a five-minute improvement, crossing in 39:36.70.
The Pride's strong showing and multiple personal records highlight the team's growth and set a solid foundation heading into New England Regionals.
