Regis Field Hockey Selected Ninth in GNAC Preseason Coaches Poll

GNAC RELEASE

WINTHROP, Mass. -- The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) released its 2025 Preseason Coaches Poll this week, with the Regis College field hockey team selected to finish ninth out of 11 programs across the league.

The poll, voted on by GNAC head coaches, reflects a competitive field heading into the fall campaign, with Simmons University earning the top spot, followed closely by New England College (NEC) and Colby-Sawyer.

As they head into the 2025 season, the Pride are focused on building momentum with a balanced roster of experienced returners and fresh talent. With 11 players returning and a pair of impactful newcomers joining the squad, Regis aims to start the season strong and set the tone early.

Senior Mackenzie O'Shea (Sharon, Mass.) returns as the Pride's top active point scorer from last season and will serve as a vital piece of the offensive attack. A dynamic playmaker, O'Shea brings creativity and experience to the attack, helping to drive the team's forward momentum. On the defensive end, senior goalkeeper Sarai Velez (Everett, Mass.) will provide a steady presence in net. Returning for her final season after recording a career-best .641 save percentage in 2024, Velez will play a crucial role in anchoring the Pride's back line.

The Pride open the 2025 season at home on Saturday, August 30, hosting Fitchburg State at Regis Stadium at 5 p.m. Conference play begins two weeks later when the Pride welcome St. Joseph's College (Maine) to Regis Stadium on Saturday, September 13, with game time set for 1 p.m.
