Four Represent Regis Softball on CSC Academic All-District Team

WESTON, Mass. - Four members of the 2023-24 Regis College softball team represent the program as College Sports Communicators announced the 2023-24 Academic All-District® Division III Softball Team, recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.

Recent graduate Marissa Allen (Coventry, R.I.) appeared in 31 games during the 2024 season, earning seven hits, four walks, two runs scored, and six runs batted in. On March 5 against Penn State-New Kensington, she went 2-for-3 with one RBI. From behind the plate, she caught runners attempting to steal a base seven times. Allen completed her bachelor's degree in nursing with a 3.52 grade point average.

Bianca Burke (Cambridge, Mass.) once again led the team at the plate, batting .393 with 42 hits, including five doubles and six triples, plus she scored 26 runs, drew nine walks, drove in 15 runs, and collected 12 stolen bases. In the field, Burke made just one error in 62 chances and earned five outfield assists. Earning Academic All-District honors for the second straight year, Burke is majoring in elementary education and Spanish with a 3.87 GPA.

Abby Erickson (Worcester, Mass.) also recently graduated with her bachelor's degree in nursing, completing her coursework with a 3.74 grade point average. On the field, Erickson appeared in all 34 games this season for the Pride, earning 21 hits, 12 runs scored, 13 walks, and 17 runs batted in. She was named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team for the second time in her collegiate career.

Rising senior Lexi Nichols (Granby, Conn.) tied Burke for the Regis single-season triples record when she notched her fifth and sixth triples of the year against Dean April 27. Overall, Nichols batted .302 with 29 hits, including four doubles, six triples, and four home runs, along with 15 runs scored and 15 RBI. Nichols is a nursing major with a 3.66 grade point average.

In total, 35 student-athletes representing Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) schools were named to the Academic All-District® Division III Softball Team. Burke has been selected as a CSC Academic All-America® finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Tuesday, June 18.

The Division III CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Division III Academic All-America® program.
