Regis Softball Earns Another Win on Day Three of Spring Break Trip
CLERMONT, Fla. – Regis College Softball split day three of their spring break trip, bringing their record to 2-4 on the young season. In the first game, the Pride held on to defeat the Curry College Colonels, 2-1, before falling to the Wesleyan University Cardinals, 10-2.
Regis vs. Curry
- Game one remained scoreless until the top of the third inning when Gabriella Blanchard (North Haven, Conn.) hit a two-RBI double, giving the Pride a 2-0 lead.
- The Colonels responded in the bottom of the third, cutting the deficit to one run following an error by the Pride.
- A defensive battle ensued, with both teams combining for just three hits as the game entered the bottom of the seventh, with the Pride holding a slim 2-1 lead.
- Curry managed to get a runner on first due to another error, but nothing would come of it as the Pride's infield turned a double play to end the inning and secure the 2-1 victory.
Regis vs. Wesleyan University (Conn.)
- After trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the third, the Pride cut their deficit in half when Lynsey Kay (Bellingham, Mass.) hit a solo home run to bring in their first run, before an error allowed the Pride to score their second run.
- A two-run homer from Jacelyn Lees would highlight the Cardinals three run fourth inning to put Wesleyan up, 7-2.
- An inning later, the Cardinals added three more runs to secure the 10-2 victory after five innings.
Inside the Numbers:
- First year, Gabriella Blanchard secured her first victory on the mound for the Pride, pitching a complete game and allowing only three hits and no earned runs in the 2-1 victory over Curry.
- Kristen Galvin (North Reading, Mass.) and Lynsey Kay recorded their first hits for the crimson and gold in game one, with Kay following up by hitting her first home run in game two.
- Seven different student-athletes recorded a hit for the Pride in their effort against Wesleyan.

The Pride have a day off before returning to the diamond on Thursday, March 13th, to face Nichols College at 2 p.m., followed by a game against Husson University at 4:15 p.m. at the Diamondplex in Winter Haven, Florida.
