Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Dean to Open Regis Fest

WESTON, Mass. - In front of an enthusiastic crowd beginning its Regis Fest celebration, Regis College swept Dean College, 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-14), Friday evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's volleyball match at Higgins Court.

Ahnasia Mckinney (Chelmsford, Mass.) notched her fourth triple-double of the season, leading the Pride with 10 kills, 13 assists, and 10 digs, plus she hit .450 in the contest as she made just one attack error in 20 attempts. Ayla Albers (San Diego, Calif.) earned nine kills and seven digs, Kate Montigny (Shrewsbury, Mass.) paced the team at the net with five total blocks, and Kamdyn Tenorio (Irvine, Calif.) contributed five assists, three service aces, and nine digs.

The Pride opened the match by scoring five of the first six points, eventually pulling ahead midway through the set, 13-6. After consecutive service aces by Skylar Raskevitz brought the Bulldogs within four points at 13-9, Regis rattled off a 12-3 scoring run to close out the opening set, capped by a service ace from Albers and a kill by Grace Fabiano (Greenland, N.H.).

Regis took an early 8-3 lead in the second set on a kill by Avery Mola (Cheshire, Conn.) and a service ace from Lily DiRico (Westford, Mass.), but Dean took advantage of Pride miscues to close to within three points at 10-7. The home team responded with a 15-1 scoring run to clinch the second set, featuring three blocks involving Montigny.

Dean scored the first two points of the third set before Regis put together a 10-3 scoring run, led by Bella Karpicz (Berkley, Mass.) with three kills, to pull ahead, 10-5. The Pride continued to extend their advantage throughout the rest of the set, closing it out on another kill by Karpicz as she finished with a season-high five kills.

Emily Larouche finished with four kills and six digs, but the Bulldogs ended up with more attack errors (20) than kills (11). Defensively, Emily Ball led the team at the net with three block assists, and Janai Price paced the backline with 12 digs.

Regis College (11-4, 4-0 GNAC) heads to Lasell University to face the Lasers in a rematch of the 2023 GNAC Tournament championship contest Tuesday, Oct. 1, starting at 7 p.m. Dean College (4-8, 0-1 GNAC) heads to New Haven, Conn., to face Albertus Magnus College Tuesday night also beginning at 7 p.m.
