Men's Soccer Falls to Emmanuel, 4-1
BOSTON, Mass. -- The Regis College men's soccer team was back in action tonight as they took the short trip to take on the Saints of Emmanuel College, where the Pride would drop 4-1 to their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe.
Sophomore Reynaldo Bautista (Miami, Florida) would have the Pride's only goal, off of an assist from senior defender William Comiero (Woburn, Mass.).
For the home team, four different Saints would find the back of the net in the victory.
How it Happened
The Pride would find themselves down just moments into the game when Rafael Matamoros would find the bottom left corner. From there, the Pride and Saints would go back and forth exchanging chances but none would seem to fall.
Regis would find their equilizer in the 36th minute when Bautista would chip the goalkeeper while in-behind on a throughball played by his captain. The stalemate would not last long though as Emmanuel would respond with Connor Morgenthal running in unmarked on a corner kick, heading the crossed ball home to put his team back on top, 2-1. Regis would have a flurry of shots right before half, but none would find the back of the net as Emmanuel took their one-goal lead into the break.
The Saints would enter the second half continuing their theme of scoring quickly, when Joe Anderson found the back of the net just four minutes into the second half off of a penalty kick. From this moment, the half would be relitively quiet, until the Saints would again convert on a penalty kick. The Pride would again fire off a few shots but none would seem to find the frame, securing the Saints' 4-1 GNAC victory.
