Lightning Delay Splits Action as Pride Fall to Judges
WALTHAM, Mass. – The Regis College men's soccer team traveled to Brandeis University this weekend, with play spanning Saturday and Sunday, September 6–7. After the match was halted in the 37th minute on Saturday due to lightning, the Pride returned to Gordon Field on Sunday, ultimately falling to the Judges 3-0 in non-conference action.
How It Happened
The Pride kept Brandeis quiet for much of the opening half, with Chris Alcon (Cartagena, Spain) making a pair of stops to keep things level. In the 37th minute, play was suspended due to lightning, forcing the teams to resume the match on Sunday morning.
Once back on the field, the Judges struck just before halftime, as Kenshin Murakawa found the back of the net in the 45th minute to give Brandeis a 1-0 edge at the break.
In the second half, Brandeis extended its lead in the 81st minute when Slater Loffredo scored to make it 2-0. Maddox Yu then capped the scoring in the 88th minute off a feed from Chuang, sealing the 3-0 final.
Silva-Olivera provided Regis with its best looks on goal, but Sampson turned aside both attempts to preserve the clean sheet.
Inside the Numbers
- Agu Silva-Olivera (Lunenburg, Mass.) provided the Pride with their best looks on goal: leading his sqaud with two shots on net.
