Men's Lacrosse Concludes Season

NEWTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's lacrosse team fell to Lasell University, 20-7, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup on Saturday.

Jack Jaynes (Reading, Mass.) led the Pride with three goals and two assists, while Anthony Marsella (Johnston, R.I.) added two goals. Overall, four different players scored for Regis in the contest. Colin McGarry (Brookline, N.H.) paced the Pride with four ground balls, followed by Matt Cabassa (Weymouth, Mass.) and Dylan Slichko (Wynantskill, N.Y.) with two each. In net, Ryan Guerette (Litchfield, N.H.) tallied 24 saves.

How it Happened:

  • Lasell opened the first quarter with eight unanswered goals and outscored Regis 2-1 in the second to take a 10-1 lead into halftime.

  • Regis found some offensive rhythm in the third quarter, putting together a 4-2 run with goals from Jack Jaynes (Reading, Mass.), Anthony Marsella (Johnston, R.I.), and Brendan Cook (Billerica, Mass.).

  • The Lasers responded with three consecutive goals to extend their lead to 15-5 heading into the final frame.

  • Less than a minute into the fourth, Austin Wenzel connected with Blake Cavallon to stretch Lasell's lead. Regis added two more goals in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to close the gap, resulting in a 20-7 final.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Colin McGarry (Brookline, N.H.) scooped up four ground balls, finishing the season with a career high of 54.

  • Five Regis players each recorded one caused turnover on defense.

With the loss, the Pride concluded its season with a 3-11 overall record, including 1-7 in GNAC play.
