Men's Soccer Fall to Norwich in PK's 3-2 in GNAC Quarterfinals

WESTON, Mass. -- On November 1, 2025, Regis College men's soccer hosted the Norwich Univeristy Cadets in a thrilling GNAC three versus six Quarterfinal match at Regis Stadium. The game ended with the Cadets on top 1 (3)-1(2) after two overtime periods and penalty kicks. This game would mark the end of the Pride's Season rounding their record out at 8-9-2 overall.

Cade Bretton (Burlington, Vt.) would be the Pride's lone goalscorer, his goal would be assisted by Michael Champagne (Wellesley, Mass.).

How it Happened
Regis took an early lead in the first half with a goal from Bretton off of a corner, assisted by Champagne, at the 11 minute mark. The Pride's back line, anchored by Chris Alcon (Cartagena, Spain), held firm to preserve a slim 1–0 lead as the Cadets ramped up their offensive pressure, outshooting the Pride 10–2 in the first half. Despite the surge, Regis' defense stood tall, keeping the lead intact heading into the break.

After more back and fourth physical play Norwich would rewrite the script responding late in the game at the 87th minute mark. Diego Fuentes, who was a standout performer for Norwich with four shots and two on target, scored the equalizer with an assist from Cameron Albrecht. Fuentes's goal brought the game level, pushing it into overtime.

Both teams had opportunities to secure a victory during the overtime periods, but neither could find the back of the net. Norwich outshot Regis but goalkeeper Alcon, was in fine form, making four critical saves to keep his team in the game.

In penalty kicks, the Cadets would go to Tyler Ziminski, a freshman who would make two saves en route to his teams victory as the Cadets outshot the Pride 3-2.
