Men's Soccer Falls Short in Season Opener
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass.-- The Regis College men's soccer team opened its 2025 season on the road Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbor Stadium in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, taking on Massachusetts Maritime Academy. In a hard fought game, the Buccaneers would come out on top 3-0.
How it Happened:
The game started with early pressure from Mass. Maritime, who generated the bulk of offensive chances tallying 9 shots in the first half, but Pride Goalkeeper Chris Alcon (Cartagena, Spain) made several key saves, including stopping shots in the sixth, eighth, and 10th minutes. Alcon would answer the call again in the 44th minute, making a key save off of a corner as the first half expired with score deadlocked at zero.

From there, the momentum shifted in favor of the Buccaneers, who broke through in the 74th minute on a goal from first-year James Munroe. Teammates Harry Cooley and Brody Calvert followed with back-to-back strikes in the 80th and 81st minutes, extending the lead to three and sealing the 3-0 shutout victory.
