Women's Soccer Fall in GNAC Semifinal to Emmanuel, 2-0

BOSTON, Mass -- The Regis College women's soccer team was back in action with their season on the line, playing Emmanuel College in this year's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) semifinal matchup. This would be the end of the Pride's season, falling 2-0. Regis Finished this season 11-7-2 overall and 8-4-1 in conference.

How it Happened

The game started with both teams trading possession and throw-ins, with few clear chances early on. In the 12th minute, Emmanuel would open the scoring when Aleena Solano would score off a short played corner with an assist from Eva Simmons. The Saints began to assert control midway through the half, generating pressure through corners and free kicks. In the 40th Minute Audrey Morris (Ancaster, ON) would have an opportunity but put her shot just left. The first half would end 1-0 in Emmanuel's favor.

The Saints came out strong again after halftime, continuing to press Regis with a flurry of shots and set pieces. in the 60th minute, Leah Snyder (Hope, Maine) would have an opportunity but it would be blocked by Emmanuel's defense. Minutes later, the Saints would double their lead when Annebel Balogh de Galantha scored on a free kick. Goalkeeper Cassidy Van Cott (Santa Monica, Calif.) would make a crucial save to keep the scoreline from widening in the 80th minute but that wouldn't matter as the Pride would be unable to add to their tally. This game would end 2-0 with Emmanuel advancing to the GNAC Final.
