Pride Powers Past Anna Maria for 15-8 Victory

PAXTON, Mass. – Regis College Men's Lacrosse surged to a 15-8 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over the Amcats of Anna Maria College on Wednesday night at Caparso Field.

The Amcats were led by Eric Farrell with four goals and an assist, followed by Jeremy Dewar and Nathan Powers with two goals apiece. Jack Jaynes (Reading, Mass.) led the Pride with four goals for his fifth game this season scoring more than three goals, while also finishing with seven ground balls.

How It Happened:

  • Anna Maria put up the first goal in the 13th minute, just before Regis responded as Luke Meelia (Acushnet, Mass.) met Brendan Cook (Billerica, Mass.) with a pass to secure a 1-1 tie for a clean slate.

  • Regis would eventually lead 5-3 at the end of the first, thanks to goals from Anthony Marsella (Johnston, R.I.), Matt Cabassa (Weymouth, Mass.), Nick Klein (Buxton, Maine), and Weston Schumacher (Sherborn, Mass.) to close the opening quarter.

  • The Pride doubled down to outscore the Amcats 5-2 in the second quarter, claiming a four-goal lead at halftime.

  • Despite two goals from the home team in the third quarter, Regis kept control and dominated the fourth with three unanswered goals to pull away with the 15-8 victory.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Marsella and Jaynes clinched three or more goals in tonight's match.

  • Colin McGarry (Brookline, N.H.) led the Pride with four caused turnovers, while Jack Glowacz (Saugus, Mass.) finished with three.

  • Seven Regis players scooped two ground balls or more.

  • Devin Hammon (Chicopee, Mass.) played the entire duration in net, facing 32 total shots while making nine saves.
