Jaynes Leads Regis to Convincing 17-7 Win Over Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Regis College Men's Lacrosse secured a dominant 17-7 victory over Albertus Magnus in today's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup at Celentano Field. With the win, Regis improves to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in GNAC play, while Albertus Magnus drops to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in conference action.

How It Happened:

  • The Pride struck first when Jack Jaynes (Reading, Mass.) found Anthony Marsella (Johnston, R.I.) for the opening goal at the 13:31 mark. Albertus Magnus responded less than a minute later to tie the game at 1-1. Both teams traded a goal each to tie with two. From there, Jaynes took control, scoring three consecutive goals to give Regis a 5-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.

  • The Falcons responded early in the second frame, as Jermy Tremblay powered through the Regis defense to net Albertus' third goal. However, the Pride answered with two more goals to extend their lead to 7-3. The Falcons gained some momentum in the latter part of the second quarter, narrowing the gap to 7-6 as the teams headed into halftime.

  • Regis came out strong in the second half, shutting out Albertus Magnus in the third quarter while scoring four goals, including two man-up tallies. The Pride maintained their momentum in the final frame, finishing with a 6-1 run to seal the 17-7 victory.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Three Regis players recorded hat tricks in the contest, led by Jaynes with six goals. Marsella contributed five goals and three assists, while Brendan Cook (Billerica, Mass.) added four goals and one assist.

  • Defensively, Colin McGarry (Brookline, N.H.) and Jack Glowacz (Saugus, Mass.) each caused five turnovers, with Glowacz also leading the team with seven ground balls. McGarry and Luke Meelia (Achusnet, Mass.) each scooped up six ground balls.
