Chavarria's Goal Lifts Pride Past Albertus, 1-0

WESTON, Mass. - In a closely contested matchup at Regis Stadium, the Pride men's soccer team secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Albertus Magnus. The win improved Regis' season record to 4-6-1 overall and 4-1-0 in conference play.

Sophomore Juan Pablo Chavarria (Revere, Mass.) had the Pride's lone goal, unassisted.

How it Happened
The lone goal of the match came early in the first half. Just about 10 minutes in, Regis defender Chavarria capitalized on a shot from out side the 18-yard box, beating the goalie over the top.

About 17 minutes later the Falcons would earn their first corner of the day but Regis' defense would hold strong. maintaing their lead. The first half would end 1-0 in the Pride's favor.

In the 52nd minute, Albertus would earn three consecutive corners, resulting with one shot blocked by the Pride's defense.

With 10 Minutes remaining Regis' goalie Chris Alcon (Cartagena, Spain) would be called on to make a crucial fingertip save out of the top left corner to keep this game tied and earn himself another clean sheet.
