Capobianco Secures 100th Career Win as Pride Shut Out Colby-Sawyer

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's soccer team erupted for five goals in a 5-0 shutout victory over Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday afternoon at Regis Stadium. The win not only boosts the Pride's record to 3-1 in GNAC play (3-5-1 overall), but also marks head coach Renato Capobianco's 100th career victory at the helm of the program.

Nolan McMahon (White River Junction, Vt.) led the attack with a goal and two assists, while Rafael Morales (Manatí, Puerto Rico), Haroun Mafhoum (Bellingham, Mass.), Michael Champagne (Wellesley, Mass.), Agu Silva-Olivera each added tallies. In net, Chris Alcon (Cartagena, Spain) secured the clean sheet with three saves.

How it Happened

The Pride controlled play early, generating three quick corners before breaking through in the 18th minute. Callum Park delivered a ball into the box that McMahon settled and laid off to Morales, who finished to put Regis ahead 1-0. Just two minutes later, McMahon played provider again, setting up Mafhoum for a strike into the top left corner to double the lead. McMahon capped off his first-half performance with a goal of his own, sending the Pride into the break up 3-0.

Champagne extended the lead in the 68th minute, cleaning up a loose ball in the box to make it 4-0. Colby-Sawyer's best chance to spoil the shutout came in the 80th minute on a free kick, but Alcon made a diving stop, and then turned away another chance in the 83rd. Silva-Olivera put the finishing touch on the victory moments later, securing the 5-0 decision to close out Regis Fest.
