Andrew Bienvenu Collects Third GNAC Weekly Award of Season
WINTHROP, Mass. – After extending his winning streaks in both singles and doubles last week, graduate student Andrew Bienvenu (Baton Rouge, La.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the third time this season, announced Monday night, April 18, by the league office.
Last Tuesday, Bienvenu did not lose a single game in either singles (6-0, 6-0) or doubles (8-0), winning both matches in the number one position during Regis' 5-4 GNAC victory over Norwich. Thursday, he first teamed again with Lenny Tam (Waltham, Mass.) to win in doubles, 8-1, and then he defeated Salve Regina's number one player in straight sets (6-2, 6-0) as the Pride took a 5-4 victory on the road.
Bienvenu is now 14-0 in singles and 13-1 in doubles entering the final week of the regular season. He has moved into a tie for seventh place in program history for most singles wins in a season. Bienvenu was previously named GNAC Player of the Week March 14 and April 4.
Regis College (7-7, 1-2 GNAC) will close the regular season at Colby-Sawyer College Saturday, April 23, starting at 1 p.m.
