Pride Cruise Past Falcons for Third Straight Victory
WESTON, Mass. – Regis College women's lacrosse earned their third straight victory in dominant fashion, posting a 20-3 win over Albertus Magnus on Wednesday evening. The Pride improved to 5-4 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play and 7-6 overall on the season.
Serenity Ayala (North Brookfield, Mass.) paced the offense with five goals, while Audrey Mason (West Springfield, Mass.) added two goals and three assists, along with a team-high four caused turnovers. Molly Higgins (Weymouth, Mass.) and Melinda Carbone (Bedford, Mass.) each recorded hat tricks to round out the scoring for the Pride.In goal, Allayna Martone (Elkridge, Md.) made three saves to secure the win.
For Albertus Magnus, Broiny Retasket led the Falcons with one goal, one assist, seven ground balls, and five caused turnovers.
How it Happened:
- The Pride came out firing, jumping to a commanding 9-0 lead after the first quarter, fueled by three goals from Carbone — two of which came off assists from Paige Ritchie (Peabody, Mass.).
- Ayala notched a hat trick in the second quarter alone, though Albertus Magnus broke the shutout at the 10:13 mark to get on the board. Regis responded with three more goals before halftime, including a late strike from McKenna Benoit (Acushnet, Mass.) in the final 20 seconds, giving the Pride a 15-1 advantage at the break.
- Both teams traded a goal apiece in the third quarter, sending the game into the final frame with the Pride's 14-goal lead still intact.
- In the fourth, Higgins and Mason each tallied two points to help the Pride add four more goals. The Falcons managed a final goal in the closing seconds, but it wasn't enough to cut into the deficit, as Regis sealed the dominant 20-3 victory.
