Regis Women’s Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Academic Recognition

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The Regis College women's lacrosse team has been named a 2024 Academic Honor Squad by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), and four members of the 2023-24 roster have been selected to the 2024 IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll, announced Wednesday afternoon, July 24, by the national organization.

To qualify as a IWLCA Academic Honor Squad, the Pride posted a grade point average of 3.2 or higher for the 2023-24 academic year. In total, over 150 Division III programs received Academic Honor Squad accolades, including seven teams from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC): Dean College, Emmanuel College, Johnson and Wales University, Norwich University, Regis College, Simmons University, and University of Saint Joseph.

For selection to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. Regis is represented by graduate student Hope Alto (Boston, Mass.) and recent graduates Megan Miller (Quincy, Mass.), Mia Rogers (Revere, Mass.), and Maddey Strickland (Hopkinton, Mass.).

Alto continues to add to her accolades both athletically and academically, as she was previously selected Second Team All-GNAC and the Regis Outstanding Female Graduate Student-Athlete of the Year. She led the Pride with 60 goals, seventh-most in a single season in program history, and a school-record 165 draw controls, eighth in Division III in draw controls per match (9.71). Pursuing her master's degree in occupational therapy, Alto collected Academic All-GNAC and College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® honors earlier this summer.

Miller, one of the recipients of this year's Regis-Casserly Award, was a two-sport student-athlete for the Pride, earning All-GNAC honors in swimming and diving after finishing second in the 100 backstroke and third in both the 50 backstroke and 200 backstroke at the 2024 GNAC Swimming and Diving Championships. Miller, graduating with her nursing degree in May, is a three-time Academic All-GNAC honoree as well as a two-time selection to both the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll and the College Sports Communicators Swimming and Diving Academic All-District® Team.

Rogers, also earning a bachelor's degree in nursing, started 16 matches for the Pride during the 2024 season, finishing with nine goals, two assists, 22 groundballs, and nine caused turnovers. She scored two goals against Maine-Farmington March 14 and collected four groundballs and two caused turnovers against Dean April 20. This is also the second time on the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll for Rogers, who earned three Academic All-GNAC selections and two selections to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team.

Strickland, another graduate from the Young School of Nursing at Regis College, started all 17 matches she appeared in for the Pride this past season, ending the year with four goals and a team-high 16 assists. She tied the Regis single match record for assists with five helpers during the Pride's 14-11 victory over Dean April 20. Selected to the GNAC Women's Lacrosse All-Sportsmanship Team after the 2024 season, Strickland is a two-time IWLCA Academic Honor Roll selection and a three-time Academic All-GNAC honoree.

Regis College sponsors 19 intercollegiate sports, including women's lacrosse, within NCAA Division III as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
