Regis Women's Lacrosse Secures Senior Day Victory Over Lasell

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College women's lacrosse used a dominant third quarter to pull away from Lasell University, earning a 10-6 victory in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Senior Day. The win evens the Pride's GNAC record at 4-4 and improves their overall mark to 6-7.

Audrey Mason (West Springfield, Mass.) led the attack with a game-high three assists and two goals. Senior Retta Hatin (Hooksett, N.H.) tallied two goals and one assist, while first-year Maddie Sainato (Wilmington, Mass.) added a hat trick. On the defensive end, Vanessa Kozinski (Merrimack, N.H.) and Melinda Carbone (Bedford, Mass.) caused five and four turnovers, respectively. In goal, Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) made 11 saves to secure the win for the Crimson and Gold.

For the Lasers, Alice Rourke was the offensive standout with four goals. Emily Watson and Kaitlin Bedell each chipped in with a goal and an assist. Goalie Joy Sayah recorded seven saves in the loss.

How it Happened:

  • The Lasers struck first with two quick goals, but the Pride responded with a score from Teal Galligan (Acushnet, Mass.). Moments later, Reese Hatin (Hooksett, N.H.) secured a clear for her team before sneaking the past Sayah to even the game at 2-2.
  • Mason notched her second assist of the game, finding Molly Higgins (Weymouth, Mass.) in front of the net to give Regis its first lead, 3-2, with 9:52 left in the opening quarter. Both teams added another tally before the frame closed, giving the Pride a 4-3 edge heading into the second.
  • Lasell tied things up early in the second quarter, but senior Retta Hatin reclaimed the lead for the Pride with a strong finish. The Lasers answered with a successful free position shot, sending both teams into halftime knotted at 5-5.
  • In the third, Maddie Sainato made a slick move from behind the cage and fired one into the top right corner to put Regis back on top. Less than a minute later, a clear led by Mazo connected with Hatin, who found Sainato again for another tally. Mason capped off the quarter with a goal off a feed from Serenity Ayalo (North Brookfield, Mass.), giving the Pride an 8-5 lead heading into the final stanza.
  • Lasell's Rourke opened the fourth with her fourth goal of the game to cut the deficit to two, but the Pride shut the door with late insurance goals from Retta Hatin and Mason, sealing a 10-6 victory.
