Pride Battle to Scoreless Draw at Norwich
NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Regis College women's soccer team traveled north Friday night for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup at Norwich University, where 90 minutes was not enough to determine a winner as the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
How it Happened
The opening half saw plenty of midfield action, with the Pride and Cadets managing two and one shots, respectively. Regis nearly broke through in the 24th minute when Sienna Santiago's (Brewster, N.Y.) strike rattled off the crossbar, but the Cadets escaped unharmed. The other first-half chances from both sides drifted wide, leaving the match scoreless at the break.
Less than 10 minutes into the second half, Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.) tested Norwich goalkeeper Hannah Jenkins, but her shot was handled with ease. The Cadets responded with a pair of chances that missed the mark before Regis keeper Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) made a key stop on a low strike to preserve the deadlock. In the final minute, Maeve Glavin (Norwood, Mass.) nearly provided the game-winner, but Jenkins made the save on her right-footed attempt, sealing the scoreless draw.
Inside the Numbers
- Both squads managed four shots throughout the game with the Pride landing two on goal, to the Cadets' one.
