Regis Blanks Anna Maria in 3–0 Win

PAXTON, Mass. -- On Wednesday night, the Regis College women's soccer team was on the road, taking on the Wildcats from Anna Maria College in a non-conference matchup. Winning 3-0, this triumph improved Regis' season record to 3-5-1.

Brooke McAloney (Hanson, Mass.) led the Pride with 2 goals, with Julia Benvegnu (Watertown, Conn.) adding one for herself. The Pride's lone assist came from Meadow Comiero (Woburn, Mass.)

How it Happened

In 22nd Minute, Regis would come close to opening up scoring with a flurry of shots.

A little later, Regis would take control of the match, with McAloney scoring off of a header in the 34th minute, assisted by a free kick delivery by Comeiro.

In the final moments of the first half, the Amcats would make things interesting, forcing the Pride's Nora Ross (Nashua, N.H.) to make two timely saves. The first half concluded with Regis holding a 1-0 lead.

The visitors extended their advantage in the second half when Benvegnu scored an unassisted goal in the 56th minute. McAloney would strike again in the 69th minute, sealing the victory with another unassisted goal, bringing the final score to 3-0.

Offensively, Regis proved overwhelming, tallying 27 shots, with 13 on target, compared to Anna Maria's mere 3 shots, of which only 2 were on goal.
