Benvegnu's Goal Lifts Pride Past Colby-Sawyer, 1-0
NEW LONDON, NH -- On October 18, 2025, the Regis College women's soccer team secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer College in a closely contested women's soccer match. But it would be the Pride who capitalized on their opportunities to claim the win.
Julia Benvegnu (Watertown, Conn.) would have the Pride's lone tally, unassisted.
How it Happened
The first half would be reletively quiet for the Pride as they would register just one shot and two corners. On the defensive side of things they weathered the Monk's storm allowing zero shots on goal from eight St. Joeseph's corners. The first half would end tied at zero.
The decisive moment came in the second half when Regis forward Julia Benvegnu scored the lone goal of the match at the 54 minute mark. Benvegnu's unassisted strike was her sixth goal of the season and proved to be the difference-maker in a game where scoring chances were at a premium. Both teams registered five shots each, but Regis was more efficient, with two of their attempts on target compared to none from Colby-Sawyer.
Inside the Numbers
- Today's win marks the Pride's 4th in a row.
- Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) earned her 5th shutout of the year, her 14th of her career.
