Regis Draws Tie with Lasell, 1-1

WESTON, Mass. – Despite controlling the vast majority of play, Regis College couldn't breakthrough as the Pride finished with a 1-1 draw against Lasell University, on Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer match at Regis Stadium.

The Lasers offense took charge at the start of the match, with Destani Alua-Rioux finding Camdyn LaMarre in the seventh minute of play to score the first goal of the game, leading 1-0. Just after a corner kick in the 35th minute, Sienna Santiago (Brewster, N.Y.) gained possession of the ball to then take a shot but was unable to find the back of the net. The Lasers led 1-0 heading into the second half.

After taking nine shots at the start of the second half, the Pride put themselves on the board to score their first goal of the match in the 76th minute of action. Avary Hall (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) entered the box on the bottom left corner, defeating multiple defenders to later slip the ball just inside the left post for the first and only Pride goal of the match.

Despite the Pride's dominating offense in the second half, featuring three shots from Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.) and two from Alexis Sherry (Salem, Mass.) the Pride were unable to score, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Regis led the match 15-10 with shots, while Lasell finished with seven corner kicks, Regis five.

Cassidy Van Cott (Santa Monica, Calif.) faced four shots on goal in the 90 minutes she played while Elizabeth DaSilva from the Lasers earned the same.

Regis (2-3-1, 1-1-1 GNAC) is scheduled to travel to Norwich University on Tuesday, Sept. 17, with a 5:00 p.m. start time. Lasell (2-1-1, 1-0-1 GNAC) is set to host Emmanuel College on Tuesday, Sept. 17 with a 4:00 p.m. kickoff.
