Santiago and Glavin Hat Tricks Power Pride GNAC Victory

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's soccer team put on an offensive showcase Wednesday night, October 8, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup against Mitchell College. Playing in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Night, the Pride erupted for a 10-0 victory, featuring six different goal scorers, to improve to 4-7-2 overall and 2-4-1 in GNAC play.

Sienna Santiago (Brewster, N.Y.) and Maeve Glavin (Norwood, Mass.) powered the offense with matching hat tricks, while Delaney Scanlon (Dracut, Mass.), Mia Carll (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Julia Benvegnu (Watertown, Conn.), and Erin Flaherty (Ashland, Mass.) each added goals of their own. Carll also joined Leah Snyder (Hope, Maine) and Meadow Comeiro (Woburn, Mass.) with two assists apiece, contributing to the Pride's balanced attack. In goal, Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) earned the win for Regis.

How it Happened

The Pride wasted no time getting on the board, as just four minutes into the match, Comiero found Santiago, who made a quick move and buried the opening goal. Santiago struck again in the 36th minute with a perfectly placed shot to the right corner, doubling the Pride's lead to 2-0. Scanlon followed with a tally off a Comiero rebound, and Glavin added a pair of goals before halftime to send Regis into the break with a commanding 5-0 advantage.

Santiago completed her hat trick in the 53rd minute off a feed from Snyder, before Glavin joined in again with a long-range strike from outside the 18 to notch a hat trick of her own. Carll, Benvegnu, and Flaherty each added goals down the stretch to cap off a dominant 10-0 victory for the Pride at Regis Stadium.
