Rees and Erickson Recognized in GNAC Postseason
WINTHROP, Mass. – The Regis College softball program placed two student-athletes on the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference Teams, led by first-year infielder Mel Rees's (Middleborough, Mass.) selection onto the All-Rookie Team. Senior infielder Abby Erickson (Worcester, Mass.) was voted to the All-Sportsmanship Team by the conference coaches.
Rees batted .392 (40-for-102) with eight doubles, three triples, and seven home runs for a .735 slugging percentage, second in the GNAC this season.
In the pitching circle, she finished the season 8-3 with two saves and five complete games, striking out 91 batters in 100 1/3 innings of action. She finished fourth in the GNAC in strikeouts.
"Mel was a great pick-up for the Pride this year. She was a force in the batter's box and on the mound. She played a huge part in our offensive production this year and I am very proud of her," said Regis softball head coach Ellie Adams.
Erickson, a senior infielder was selected to the GNAC Softball All-Sportsmanship Team after appearing in 34 games for the Pride in 2024. She finished the season with 21 hits and 17 RBI, including a 2-for-2 performance with three key RBI in the first game against Dean on April 27.
"Abby is a great leader and role model for our team. She embodies our core values of respect, loyalty, effort, and passion very well. I couldn't be more proud of her and all she has accomplished these past 4 years," said Coach Adams.
The Regis softball team finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 12-22 while finishing 6-12 in the conference. Within the GNAC South division, the Pride collected a record of 5-9 and finished sixth in the division.
