Mola Named GNAC Player of the Week; Catalanotto Earns Back-to-Back Rookie Honors
WESTON, Mass. — The duo of Avery Mola (Cheshire, Conn.) and Eva Catalanotto (Cheshire, Conn.) earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors after leading the Pride to a 2-1 record last week. Mola secured the GNAC Player of the Week award, while Catalanotto claimed back-to-back GNAC Rookie of the Week honors.
Mola earned her first Player of the Week recognition this season with an outstanding all-around performance over three matches. She tallied 31 kills (3.10 kills per set), 23 digs (2.30 digs per set), four blocks, and five service aces. Her offensive prowess was highlighted in the victory over Salve Regina, where she posted 12 kills on a .231 hitting percentage and contributed 17.0 points. In a hard-fought five-set battle against Emerson, Mola recorded 13 kills, 17 digs, and 15.5 points. She finished the week strong with six kills in two sets during the Pride's sweep of Husson.
Catalanotto totaled 24 kills, hitting an impressive .357 on 56 attempts, averaging 2.40 kills per set. She began the week with a dominant performance against Salve Regina, recording 10 kills on a .563 hitting percentage, along with two block assists and two service aces, totaling 13.0 points. In the intense five-set match against Emerson, she contributed significantly on both offense and defense with 10 kills and four blocks. Over the week, Catalanotto added six blocks, three digs, and four service aces, accumulating 31.0 points (3.1 points per set).
This marks Mola's third GNAC weekly award in her career and Catalanotto's second.
The Cheshire natives and the Pride return to action Wednesday at Higgins Court, hosting Endicott College at 7 p.m.
