Avery Mola Named GNAC WVB Player of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. - After averaging 3.18 kills, 1.45 service aces, and 2.64 digs per set over the past week, sophomore Avery Mola (Cheshire, Conn.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Volleyball Player of the Week, announced Monday, Sept. 23, by the league office.

During a 2-1 week for the Pride, with the two victories coming within the conference, Mola totaled 35 kills, 16 service aces, 29 digs, and six total blocks. She has now reached double figures in kills in four consecutive matches for the second time this season, plus she has collected 10 or more digs on seven occasions for the Pride.

Last Tuesday at WPI, Mola notched her fourth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 17 digs, tying her personal season-high total in that category. In addition, she earned a career-high seven service aces, with five of them coming in the fourth set to help Regis tie the match at two sets apiece and force a deciding fifth set.

Saturday, Mola finished with 12 kills in each contest to lead the Pride to sweeps over Elms College and New England College. Against the Blazers, she hit .300 and also finished with four service aces, two digs, and three total blocks. In the afternoon contest against the Pilgrims, Mola posted a .219 hitting percentage and also ended up with five service aces, 10 digs, and two block assists.

For the season, Mola leads the GNAC in total kills with 142, plus she is now tied for the team lead and second in the conference in service aces with 33. This is her first career GNAC Player of the Week award and third weekly honor from the league overall, as she was named GNAC Rookie of the Week twice during the 2023 season, after which she was selected Second Team All-GNAC and to the GNAC All-Rookie Team.

Regis College (10-4, 3-0 GNAC) hosts Dean College to kick off Regis Fest weekend Friday, Sept. 27, starting at 5 p.m. at Higgins Court.
