Fabiano, Rivera, and Catalanotto Earn GNAC Weekly Honors After Perfect Week on the Road
WESTON, Mass. — The Regis College women's volleyball team continued to make its mark in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards, as Grace Fabiano (Greenland, N.H.), Alexandra Rivera (Bristol, Conn.), and Eva Catalanotto (Cheshire, Conn.) were each recognized following a perfect 3-0 week on the road for the Pride. It marked the first GNAC weekly honor for both Fabiano and Rivera this season, while Catalanotto earned the third of her rookie campaign.
Grace Fabiano was a dominant presence at the net, leading the Pride on both sides of play. She totaled 28 kills (2.55/set) on a .339 hitting percentage, while adding 12 total blocks (1.09/set) and nine digs across 11 sets. Fabiano opened the week with nine kills and five blocks in a sweep of Elms, followed with another nine kills and three blocks at Rutgers-Newark, and capped the trip with 10 kills, four blocks, and a .280 hitting clip in a five-set win over John Jay. Her all-around performance helped power the Pride to their third straight victory.
Sophomore setter Alexandra Rivera was the driving force behind the Pride offense, orchestrating the attack with precision and poise. Rivera finished the week with 102 assists (9.27/set), 21 digs, and a block over 11 sets. She notched 30 assists and four digs in the sweep of Elms, added 29 assists and five digs at Rutgers-Newark, and wrapped up with a career-high 43 assists, 12 digs, and a service ace in the five-set win at John Jay. The milestone performance also saw Rivera surpass 1,000 career assists, earning her first GNAC weekly recognition.
First-year Eva Catalanotto continued her standout debut campaign, collecting her third GNAC weekly honor after another consistent week on both sides of the ball. Catalanotto recorded 27 kills (2.7/set) on a .305 hitting percentage, along with seven blocks, seven digs, and four service aces for 35 total points (3.5/set). She hit .474 with 10 kills and two blocks in the sweep at Rutgers-Newark, then posted 12 kills, three blocks, and four aces in the five-set victory over John Jay to close the trip.
Fabiano, Rivera, and Catalanotto and the Pride will look to keep their momentum rolling when they travel to face Dean College on Tuesday, October 7 at 7 p.m.
